About Your Ally

Dr. Tatjana Mirkovic is a well-known board-certified veterinary internist in the greater Vancouver region having spent the last seventeen years providing veterinary internal medicine consultation and collaboration with primary care veterinarians and other specialists throughout the Lower Mainland of British Columbia.

Born and raised in Manitoba, Dr. Tatjana Mirkovic earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2000 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine, University of Saskatchewan. From there, she completed a one-year internship in small animal medicine and surgery at the Atlantic Veterinary College, University of Prince Edward Island in 2001, followed by a residency in small animal internal medicine at the University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine in Knoxville, Tennessee. Dr. Mirkovic became a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in 2004.

After years working at a large private veterinary specialty hospital, she witnessed the need for a mobile internist to help provide advanced and specialty care onsite to clinics throughout Vancouver. Therefore, she created the mobile practice, Allies in Internal Medicine in 2011, which allows her to travel to general veterinary practices to consult on challenging or unusual medical cases and perform various internal medicine diagnostics and procedures.

“I enjoy the personal interaction with family veterinarians, clinic staff, and pets and their owners. My mobile practice allows me to help many owners who might otherwise be unable to access specialty veterinary care for their loved ones.”

In 2020, Dr. Mirkovic joined Fidu – an online platform designed by veterinarians to help primary care veterinarians access specialists to help them care for their patients remotely. Through Fidu she provides vet-to-vet teleconsultations in internal medicine to help veterinarians access a specialist’s opinion or partner with a specialist anywhere in the world.

She lives in beautiful Port Moody, BC, and when not working, in her spare time, she enjoys the great BC outdoors, cycling, traveling, spending time with her family, and looks forward to being involved in more veterinary outreach opportunities to help people in need access veterinary resources for their companion pets.
